Yoga and Meditation Retreat to Abkhazia – “The country of the soul” – is a hidden paradise for inner discovery.

Abkhazia, officially the Republic of Abkhazia, is a partially recognised state in the South Caucasus, on the eastern coast of the Black Sea.

The richest, extraordinarily beautiful nature, giant mountains, surrounded by greenery of various trees and shrubs, on the tops of which the snow is covering the peaks. The sea is turquoise, affectionate, clean and so transparent, especially off the coast, that every pebble is visible. The combination of endless mountains literally descending into the sea alone is already able to impress everyone who visits this magical land with its beauty. And there are so many lakes located high in the mountains, mountain rivers, swift and crystal clear, waterfalls, streams and unique mineral springs. And that’s not all – the incredibly clean mountain air combined with the sea, make this place truly unique, creating the most favorable conditions for recreation here. In addition to the amazing beauty of nature, the country is interesting for its ancient history and original culture.

Being in such a fabulous nature, the body can really rest and soul can get a deep divine experience.

The program includes basic training on classical yoga in the aspect of yoga therapy. The soft southern climate of the country will help to work with the body, releasing the stiffness and tension, treating and strengthening the musculosceletal system. A unique combination of mountainous and salt marine air will support the breathing practices of yogic pranayamas, enlarging the lungs volume and giving a natural healing to a respiratory system.

Abkhazia – is holy land of Christianity with big number of ancient churches and monasteries. Its is the place, which was energized by the presence of the saints, who lived and prayed in the caves and monasteries.

Being in these high spiritual vibes you can deeply connect with your soul, calming down all fluctuations of the mind. The practice of meditation in such pure places can expand the inner vision and go deeper in the process of self-realization.

The Kamanas are a particularly revered place for all Christians.

The village is closely connected with the names of three saints: Saint Martyr Basilisk, Saint John Zlatoust and Saint John the Baptist (Baptist).

In 308, St. Basilisk was killed by Romans and buried here, you will see a wooden chapel and the burial place of St. Basilisk. At the place of execution of Martyr Basilisk a holy spring was formed.

Bishop of Constantinople John Zlatoust, the bishop of Constantinople John Chrysostom, Universal teacher and saint, was exiled here. In 407 he died and was buried.

The tomb of the saint is still in the temple.

Almost on the border with Georgia stands the ancient Ilor Temple X.

its name comes from Elyr-s, one of the seven sanctuaries revered in Abkhazia. The temple had a special significance. In difficult life situations, people turned to this holy place. Here, a purification oath was sworn to remove any suspicion of shameful acts or crimes. St. George is the holiest saint in the Caucasus. Fragments of the relics of Saint George the Victorious, myrrh-streaming and even blood-streaming icons are stored in the temple.

One of the most interesting places in Abkhazia is the cave in Novy Athos. It is one of the largest in the world, open for visiting. The huge size of grottoes, stalactites and stalagmites, underground lakes, stone waterfalls in the cave amaze even the experienced tourists.
